The Golyn 10/10 countrywide softball cricket tournament organized by the Guyana Softball
League and sponsored by Golyn and sons, Trophy Stall and Miss Love Trading (West Coast) brought out lots of emotions as teams battled to gain valuable points in the round robin tournament and stay in contention.
The results are as follows:
AT LEONORA:
Ruimzeight XI beat Rydem Star XI by 45 runs:
Ruimzeight took first strike and posted a mammoth 174-3 in their first outing in 10 overs with Man of the Day Ameer Zaheed slamming 80 not out, which included 11 sixes and one four off 20 balls and in partnership Duhkraj Singh 71 (11×6) off 25 balls worth 133 which deflated Rydem Star. In reply, Rydem Star took the fight to the opposition and ended 129-4 in 10 overs with Aftab Bacchus anchoring for 43 (5×6;1×4) off 20 balls that gave them some hope but the total was too large for the others. Thakurdeen Yaidat with 2-26 was the best bowler on show and didn’t even allow an extra.
Praim XI demolished Amazon Warriors XI by 69 runs:
Praim XI were inserted and achieved a total of 127-2 in their 10 overs with Premendra Arjune slamming 69 (8×6; 2×4) to guide them. Sham Singh took 2-11 from one over. In reply Amazon Warriors XI found the going tough in the wake of some accurate bowling from Premnauth Bhinchand who took 4-2 and Salim Khan with 3-21 and were all out for 58 in 8 overs with Sham Singh returning to score 23 (2×4).
Crossbreed Warriors mauled Superbet XI by 10 wkts:
Superbet XI were inserted and were bundled out for a paltry 31 in 6 overs with Narine Shaw bowling very quick took 2-11 in his 2 overs. The other wickets were shared amongst the others. In reply Crossbreed Warriors raced to 36 without loss in 1.2 overs with Imtiaz Hack clobbering 24 not out (3×6;1×4) to up their run rate and continue their ways of bowling out teams cheaply.
Unstoppable XI won from Blazers by 2 wkts:
Blazers took first strike and scored 56 all out in 7.4 overs with Risham Singh 13 (1×6). Bowling for Unstoppable XI was Michael McAllister who took 3-11 from 2 overs. In their turn Unstoppable were struggling in the face of some accurate bowling and barely got over the mark scoring 60-8 in 9.1 overs with McAllister returning to guide them with 11 not out (1×4) and achieve victory. Sri Krishna Murti took 4-7 from 2 overs with Khesho Beepat supporting with 3-9 in his two overs.
Mighty Lions defeated Blazers by 6 wkts:
Blazers took first strike and scored 102 -5 in 10 overs with Sri Krishna Murti top scoring with 41 (6×6). In reply Mighty Lions made light work of the total by scoring 103-4 in 8.1 overs with Manoj Persaud 42 not out (5×6). Mohamed Saffie 2-12 from two overs.
