NBS Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice
-Courtland and Bush Lot through to Semi-finals
Courtland All Stars and Bush Lot Challengers are the two other clubs to join Rose Hall Town Bakewell and
Tucber Park in the semi-finals of the New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition in Berbice after they both won their respective quarter-finals comfortably.
At D’Edward, Courtland All Star defeated defending champions D’Edward by 8 wickets. D’Edward, choosing to bat first made 153 all out in 33.3 Overs with Altaf Khan 58 (7 fours) being the chief contributor. Doing the damage for Courtland was pacer Keon Sinclair with 6 for 41, while Michael Cummings took 2 for 19.
When Courtland replied they lost Kelon Sinclair for 2 at 6 for 1, but after that Jamal Cort and former Guyana Under-19 all-rounder Leroy Bristol put on 68 for the 2nd wicket before Cort fell for 31.
From then it was Bristol and former Berbice cricketer Eon Gibson and together they saw Courtland All Star comfortably home, putting on between them 84 in an unbroken 3rd wicket stand to see their team to 154 for 2 in 23-Overs.
Over at the Bush Lot Ground in West Berbice, Bush Lot Challengers beat Edinburgh by 59 runs.
The Challengers choosing to bat first were restricted to just 120 all out in 20.3 overs with Asgar Matabeek contributing 32. Bowling for Edinburgh, Jerome Andrews took 5 for 28 from 7 Overs and Compton Hope 4 for 22.
When Edinburgh replied, they never looked like they could overhaul the target and were bowled out for 61 in 20.3 Overs. Bowling for the Challengers, former Berbice youth spinner Joel Dilchand took 6 for 10 from 5.3 Overs and Brandon Balkissoon 2 for 16.
