-Hooper leaps to silver, bronze for Foster
Linden’s Chantoba Bright shone at the 2016 CARIFTA Games last weekend in Grenada when she sprang
to a silver medal on her national debut for Guyana in the Under-18 Girls Long Jump with an impressive best jump of 5.94 metres.
Reports reaching Kaieteur Sport informed that Natricia Hooper also leaped to a silver medal in the Girls Under-20 Triple Jump event with 12.19m. Andrea Foster won her second CARIFTA Games bronze medal in the 1500m U-20 race.
Foster had also won bronze back in 2012. Up to Kaieteur Sport press time yesterday, those were the three medals Guyana had won from its 16-member team in Grenada. Daniel Williams had put in a silver medal performance in the U-18 Boys 400m in 48.08 seconds.
However, Williams’ medal was taken from him after he was disqualified for running on the line in his lane. Williams and Bright are team-mates from Linden under the guidance of their Coach, former sprinter, Johnny Gravesande.
