Heineken’s Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League (UCL) 2016 Promotion continued Saturday night at Buddy’s Pool Hall, Sheriff Street, with Michael Sparrock beating St. Lucian, Ken
Aldonza in a Foosball Competition.
Sparrock won a limited edition Heineken UEFA-branded football. “This promotion is nice and competitive and the game is fun; it is short and sweet,” Sparrock told Kaieteur Sport, adding that he has played the game before.
Foosball is a table assimilation of football, and is part of Heineken’s UEFA Series Promotion at selected bars across Guyana. Aldonza related that he likes his prize. He was given a Heineken-branded wrist watch for his efforts against Sparrock.
Heineken Brand Manager, Robert Hiscock made the presentation and told Kaieteur Sport that the brand will continue to support Guyanese passion for football in this Golden Jubilee year.
Heineken is a long-standing sponsor of the Champions League, and as such, the brand has kicked off its annual local promotion in Guyana. Customers across Guyana will have the chance to take part in similar Foosball competitions at various bars in the Heineken UCL Series where they will be given the opportunity to enjoy the final stages of the UEFA Champions League.
This year’s promotion, like last year’s, will end with a massive final viewing party at a date to be announced. It promises to be biggest one to-date given the special significance of Guyana’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations. The purchase of buckets of Heineken gives participants the chance to win prizes in the Foosball competition.
