The battle of old rivals Agricola Red Triangle and Grove Hi Tech will headline today’s double head when the
East Bank Football Association (EBFA) / STAG Senior league continues.
Agricola goes into today’s clash ahead of the defending champions on goal difference with both teams posting wins from as many matches to date.
Agricola also holds the distinction of being the only team with a clean record but that will be on the line today in what is anticipated to be a fierce tussle. Both sides have shown their offensive prowess scoring 9 and 8 goals respectively in two matches each.
Captain Winston Rawlins will have to come up big today as Agricola seeks to keep their unbeaten record intact. Help in this regard will come from Devon Jeffers, Jermaine Frank, Collis Samuels and Kacy ‘Boombie’ John.
The home team will centre their challenge around the likes of Lloyd Matthews, Nickolai Matthews, Mervin Squires and Denzil Crawford.
After their return to competitive football two years ago, Agricola defeated Grove 2-1 in the first round of the league but Grove rebounded in the second half to defeat Agricola 2-0. Ever since Grove have been enjoying the better of the exchanges against their competitor even in the 7-a-side version of the sport.
Agricola will be coming out to change that today while Grove will be seeking to continue their dominance.
Today’s curtain raiser at 13:30hrs will see Soesdyke Falcons taking on Herstelling Raiders with the former winning both of their matches against the latter in the last league, 6-0 and 4-0, respectively. However, Herstelling have since strengthened with a number of new signings, while former Timehri Panthers players have now signed up with the Falcons which would be led by Mervin Joseph.
