This evening it will definitely be a legendary night at the Pegasus Pool Side as the
international King of Calypso, the Mighty Sparrow, performs live along with Young Bill Rogers in the fourth edition of the series “Legends in Concert”.
The concert series which began last year August has brought some of the most legendary voices in Caribbean music to Guyana’s shores packaged for mature audiences in the form of a dinner and show. The previous concerts saw patrons being serenaded by Dobby Dobson followed by Boris Gardner and then late last month, the baritone voice of Ernie Smith.
This time around, the Legends in Concert Series will deliver a show which some may say is its best show to date featuring the King of Calypso himself, the Mighty Sparrow. He will be making one of his first live performances after being out of the public eye for some time.
Patrons will be in for a great treat. They will be taken down memory lane as he delivers hit and after hit from his arsenal of biting calypsos. Songs like “Jean and Dinah”, “Congo Man” and “Salt fish” will definitely have patrons on their feet and singing along as this legendary performer fills the Pegasus Poolside with calypso again.
Patrons will also be treated to many local hits by our own calypso, shanto and chutney king, Young Bill Rogers, who promises to deliver a show patrons will never forget. Young Bill Rogers will also be performing some of his late father’s hits. Bill Rogers was one of the first Guyanese to ever record.
Tickets for the show are available at the Pegasus Hotel, Nigel’s Supermarket and Clairans. They cost $15,000 per couple ($7,500 per person) with buffet dinner included.
The event is sponsored by DDL, Fly Jamaica, Awee50.com and Sanaa’s Spaces. It will certainly be a legendary night of Caribbean music.
