Mar 24, 2016 Letters
Dear Editor,
It was with both interest and concern that I read your Editorial of March 23, 2016 on the hiring of contract workers in the public service.
As you are aware I am now chairing The Commission of Inquiry into the Public Service of Guyana.
The members of the Commission have taken great care to ensure that, as far as possible, every relevant source of information is identified and analysed in pursuance of the satisfactory completion of our mandate.
It is in this context that your reference to a violation of the Public Service
Act comes to me as a surprise since we have not located any such instrument relative to Guyana.
If in fact we, the commissioners and our able researchers, have missed such a document we would consider it a serious omission and mistake on our part.
Accordingly, I shall be happy if you will provide us with the usual information which is attached to such Acts, that is Full Title and year of publication, so that we could seek to correct an apparent omission on our part. With best wishes and gratitude,
Harold A Lutchman,
Chairman
Public Service
Commission of Inquiry
Editor’s note: The reference should have been to public service regulations instead of the Public Service Act. We regret the mistake
