Dear Editor,
I have read with amusement the recent declaration by Mr. Denis Chabrol Editor of the Demerara Waves Online News Service that he had discovered the Town Clerk of Georgetown Mr. Royston King to be a liar and to be dishonest. Evidently Mr. Chabrol has forgotten that Mr. King when he functioned as the Public Relations Officer of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC) was arrested and charged for alleged forgery in August of 2014. A matter that was only set aside when the then Mayor of Georgetown wrote to the Director of Public Prosecutions pleading for the withdrawal of the matter after the last General and Regional Elections.
The hypocrisy and irony of all of this is that this same Mayor who sought and had the charges against King dropped, had complained for years to any and everyone who would listen of the laziness, incompetence and questionable conduct of King, but then again Charles Dudley Warner once said ‘Politics makes strange bedfellows’.
This is just the tip of iceberg, Wait until a comprehensive forensic audit is done at City Hall
