TEAMS TUSSLE FOR LEAD AS GOLYN 10/10 CONTINUES

The Golyn 10/10 softball cricket Tournament organized by the Guyana Softball League and sponsored by Golyn and sons, Trophy Stall and Miss Love Trading (West Coast) saw the winners dominating the day and the heat taking its toll on the losers in some fascinating individual performances that carried the teams through to the next round and left the spectators pushing for more excitement.
The results of the matches are as follows:
WEST COAST ZONE:
AT LEONORA GROUND:
Omesh XI defeated Superbet XI by 31 runs:
Omesh XI batted first and scored a challenging 113-4 in 10 overs with Vickram Kissoon smashing 53 (5×6; 1×4) off 29 balls and supported by Travis Drakes with 33 (5×6) off 16 balls to take their team to their eventual score. Irshad Hoosein took 2-22 from 2 overs. In reply Superbet XI were limited to 82-4 off their 10 overs with Jitendra Kishore scoring 20 (1×6). Travis Drakes took 2-23 from 2 overs to lead the bowling.
Vipers XI defeated Exclusive XI by 14 runs:
Vipers XI batted first and scored 109 all out in 10 overs with Vijai Hanoman top scoring with 29(2×6;2×4). Lennox Russell took 4-12 from his two overs. In reply Exclusive XI lost wickets regularly to be all out 85 with only Prem Outram offering any resistance with 36 (4×6;1×4). Viper XI returned to their winning ways by through Akram Hussain with 3-10 from 2 overs.
Praim XI got past Superstreet XI by 6 wkts:
Superstreet XI batted first and were limited to 65-8 in 10 overs with Vashish Ramnarine scoring 18 (1×6) being the only batsman to enter double figure. Narine Bailey bowling very fast knocked over 3 wkts for 4 runs in two overs to limit the opposition. In reply Praim XI cantered to 68-4 in 5 overs to win by 6 wkts.
Mighty Lions mauled Amazon Warriors XI by 42 runs:
Mighty Lions XI won the toss and batted scoring 106 all out in 10 overs with Doodnauth Seechan top scoring with 19 (1×6;2×4). Feroze Rahaman took 4-14 in two overs to limit the opposition. In reply Amazon Warriors XI were roughed up by the bowling and only managed 64 all out in 8.2 overs with Sham Singh slamming 21 (3×6) off 8 balls to carry the fight. Nicholas Shivkumar was the top bowler taking 3-10 from 2 overs to achieve a moral boosting victory.
Crossbreed Warriors shocked Maracs XI by 10 wkts:
Maracs XI were inserted and were bowled out for a measly 32 in 8 overs with all the bowlers being unplayable in particular Narine Shaw taking a 5-4 in 2 overs to lead the bowling with Devanand Khanan supporting with 3-5 from his two overs.
EAST BANK ZONE:
DIAMOND GROUND:
Amit XI had two victories defeating Brickery All Stars XI and Princess Hotel XI by 20 runs and 3 wkts respectively to lead that zone.
Meanwhile, the one ball manto with Miss Love Trading (West Coast ) being the sponsor saw some 10 pairs competing and two players Vikash Totaram and Mark Ally going through to the next round.
