Anthony Williams, Zeynul Ramsammy help Canje Secondary beat Vryman’s Erven
The 2016 Dalchand Rambharose Inter-Secondary School Under-15, Two-Innings Cricket Competition in
Berbice continued recently with Canje Secondary School taking first innings points from Vryman’s Erven Secondary School in their drawn match.
In the match which was played at Cumberland, Vryman’s Erven, choosing to bat first, soon found themselves 5 wickets down with only 10 runs on the board courtesy of Canje’s offspinner Anthony Williams who picked up three wickets and two run-outs.
Things did not improve much for Vryman’s with Aditya Budhoo being the only one of them to reach double figures with 10. They managed to post 33 all out in their first innings.
Bowling for Canje Secondary, Williams ended with 4 for 9 from 5-Overs and Zeynul Ramsammy 2 for 6.
When Canje Secondary replied in their first innings, they too lost early wickets to be 8 for 2 before Zeynul Ramsammy joined forces with Carl Gilgeous and together they took the score past the first innings target and added to Vryman’s problems by putting on 32 more before Gilgeous went for 28.
Ramsammy continued and scored 67 which helped take Canje Secondary to 154 all out by the end of the day. Bowling for Vryman’s Erven Secondary, Lindon Campbell took 3 for 33, Aditya Budhoo 2 for 26, Travis Sinclair and Trevin Schultz 2 for 39 each.
The BCB is extending thanks to the sponsor Mr Dalchand Rambharose, formerly of Cumberland, East Canje, Berbice, but now resides in the USA.
