-Benjamin and Seecharran also score centuries
The 2016 Memorex Under-17 Two-innings Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board for clubs in the Ancient County started recently.
Deinanauth Persaud hit the highest score of the early matches when he slammed 137 for Blairmont Community Centre against Achievers. His knock, which included 16 fours and 8 sixes, together with 55 N.O. from Berbice Under-15 cricketer Nigel Deodat and 43 from another Berbice Under-15 player Marvan Prashad, allowed Blairmont to declare their first innings at 354 for 7 in response to Achievers paltry 24 all out. When Achievers batted again, they fell for 35 to lose by an innings and a whopping 295 runs. Former Berbice Under-15 left arm pacer Javed Karim took a hat-trick in Achievers first innings.
After offspinner Antonio Kempadoo took 6 for 21 from 8 Overs to help Port Mourant bowl out Whim National for 120 in their first innings, Emanuel Seecharran slammed 110 N.O. to guide Port Mourant to first innings points and 225 for 9 at the close of play.
After Tucber Park bowled out East Bank for 105 in their first innings, last year’s Guyana Under-15 selectee Garfield Benjamin hit 100 N.O. to see Tucber Park to 185 for 5 declared. East Bank held on for a draw, reaching 52 for 7 at the close.
