Floyd Rollins, Shaheed Mohamed and Akshaya Persaud stroked centuries when the Georgetown Cricket Association/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued on Saturday.
Rollins slammed 119 to guide host Malteenoes SC to 369-5 declared in 57.3 overs, batting first against Sophia. Rollins added 249 for the second wicket with Nickosie Barker after they were reduced to 40-2.
Barker struck 94 while Steven Sankar made 56 and Orin Forde 48. Malcolm Harris and Stephon Hope claimed two wickets each for Sophia who were 87-8 in reply at stumps. Mario Benjamin made 24; Forde took 3-15 and Sankar 2-23.
At Everest, the host grabbed first innings from Diplomats. Everest posted 235-4 declared, taking first strike. Ashkaya Persaud scored 98 while Shaheed Mohamed got 75 and Dwayne Adams 28.
K. Augustus took 2-45. Diplomats were skittled for 53. Javed Rasheed bagged 5-12 and Mohamed 4-9. Leading by 182, Everest decided not to enforce the follow-on and declared on 235 without loss.
Mohamed smashed an unbeaten 107 while Persaud scored 100. Set 418 to win, Diplomats lost six wickets for five runs in reply. Rasheed picked up four wickets without conceding a run.
At GNIC SC, Police scored 304-9 declared, taking first knock against the host. Reginald Rodrigues made 63, Stephen Harris 60, Rocky Hutson and Jason Mc Almont 45 each and Troy Benn 37; Andrew Clifford claimed three wickets and Ryan Shun two.
GNIC SC were 118-4 at stumps. Shun made 46 and Jevin Collins 36. Gajanand Sukanand is on 21 and Dwayne Dick on 11. Hutson captured two scalps.
At Gandhi Youth Organisation, the host took first innings honours from Transport SC. Sunil Singh stroked 69 while Shawn Massiah made 40 not and Azeem Azeez 31 as TSC got 200 all out batting first; Garfield De Roche grabbed 5-75, while Trevon France and Ryale Melville had two apiece.
In response GYO were 285-5 at the close on day one. Alex Ramalho slammed 79, Abilash Dookie 75, Navindra Persaud 25 and Yeudistir Persaud 24. Singh snared three wickets and Kevin Ross two.
At Bourda, Georgetown Cricket Club got 170 all out, taking first turn at the crease against Demerara Cricket Club. Martin Pestano Belle led with 40, Joshua Wade contributed 39 and Omesh Budna 35; Carlton Jacques took two wickets. DCC were 77-1 in reply. Sachin Singh made 31 and Romain Muniram 29.
At University of Guyana, the host gained a walk over from St. Stanislaus.
