A 47-year-old man who told Magistrate Alex Moore that he found a quantity of marijuana while sweeping, and kept it to give it to someone that smokes, was sentenced to serve 25 hours of community service.
Alan Martin, a father of one, was found with three grams of cannabis in his possession by police.
When the man appeared in court on Wednesday he told the Magistrate that he was sweeping up a yard when he found the illicit substance and placed it in a zip lock bag. He claimed that he was keeping the drug to give it to somebody that uses it since he does not smoke.
Martin said that unexpectedly police were patrolling the area at the same time and caught him with the marijuana in his pocket.
He was instructed to complete the community service on or before April 15. This case will be called on April 22, for reports.
