Collis Collison, one of the men who allegedly trailed an off duty cop to his Kitty home from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) was on Thursday, slapped with another charge of discharging a loaded firearm.
This time his alleged target was Police Sergeant Richard Ramotar.
Collison, 23, of South Better Hope, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on October, 7, 2015 he discharged a loaded firearm at Sergeant Ramotar with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.
Collison along with now dead prisoner, Shawn Thom, of Third Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, were remanded to prison last year, by the Chief Magistrate on several charges which stemmed from a confrontation they had with police in Kitty.
The charges against Thom have since been withdrawn.
Collison is also accused of discharging a loaded firearm at off duty Prim Narine, a Detective attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with intent to maim, disable, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.
The incident took place on October 7, at Kitty, Georgetown.
It was further alleged that on the same day at Kitty, Georgetown, Collison had a .38 revolver in his possession, when he was not the holder of a firearm licence. Further, it was also alleged that on October 7, at the same location he had three rounds of .38 ammunition in his possession.
According to reports, on the day in question, the off duty cop had gone to the CJIA to pick up a relative, when he noticed a yellow IST following him all the way to the airport.
It was reported that the rank contacted his colleagues, informing them about what he had noticed.
Kaieteur News understands that the police turned up close to the rank’s home in Kitty and waited for him to arrive from the airport. When the rank arrived in front of his yard, a car with three men stopped a corner away from his home. Two of the gunmen reportedly exited the vehicle and were liming at a bridge, while one remained in the court. The gunmen and the police exchanged gunfire, which left Collison and Thom injured.
Magistrate Alan Wilson ordered the unrepresented man to return to court on April 19, for trial.
