Ruben Hopkinson, 22, was shot and robbed by two bandits at Eden Street, Tucville, Georgetown, while on his way home, on Wednesday night.
Hopkinson, of Festival City, Georgetown, is a Banks DIH employee. He was shot twice to the left leg and once to the buttocks. He was treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and sent away. He is to return to the hospital in two weeks to have the bullets removed.
According to the police, at around 21:30 hrs, Hopkinson was riding along Eden Street when he was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The release further stated that the perpetrators demanded Hopkinson’s jewellery and when he resisted, he was shot.
Kaieteur News understands that the bandits then escaped with the man’s jewellery which is worth $240,000.
Investigations are ongoing.
