A 19-year-old man was released on $175,000 bail after he was accused of robbing another of a motorcycle. The teen appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
David LaRose of Lot 20 Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, Georgetown, allegedly robbed Andre Roberts of a motorcycle and two cell phones on March 9, at Albouystown.
The unrepresented man pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. He was ordered to return to court on April 17, for statements.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones objected to bail citing the gravity of the charge and nature of the offence. According to Jones, during the robbery the complainant was lashed to the face by the defendant and had to be referred to the Dental School for surgery.
Magistrate McLennan ordered LaRose not to go within 50 feet of the victim until the completion of the matter since they are acquainted with each other.
In another case, Adam Mohamed, of Lot 22 Calendar Street, Albouystown was remanded to prison for allegedly having a .22 pistol in his possession when he was not the holder of a firearm licence.
Court fact revealed that he was found with the illegal weapon on March 12, at North East La Penitence.
He will make another court appearance on April 27.
