Keshawn Griffith, the brother of murdered East Ruimveldt footballer, Dexter Griffith, was cross-examined
yesterday, as the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) continued before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Delon ‘Nasty Man’ Henry, 25, of Lot 53 Houston Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is accused of murdering Griffith on September 29, 2015, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to reports, Griffith, 36, a popular ‘Back Circle’ footballer was shot nine times about the body by two gunmen on September 29, last. Griffith’s mother, Lavern Griffith, found him lying in a drain with gunshot wounds.
Also testifying were three police officers, Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Simeon Reid, who is the head of the Fraud Squad at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eve Leary; Detective Sergeant Rodwell Sarabo stationed at the CID, Brickdam Police Station and Corporal Derwayne Eastman.
The witnesses gave evidence in relation to the matter and were later cross examined by defence counsel Adrian Thompson.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Neville Jeffers declined to re-examine them. He however indicated that two witnesses are still to testify on behalf of the prosecution.
This PI was adjourned until March 21.
Henry is also facing gun related charges before another Magistrate in the same court.
It is alleged that on October 2, 2015 at Agricola, East Bank Demerara, Henry had a .38 revolver in his possession, when he was not the holder of a firearm licence. It was also alleged that on the same day, at Agricola, he had eight .38 rounds of ammunition in his tenure without being the holder of a firearm licence.
