The Cricket Development programme of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, MS would receive a major boost when the Club join hands with Republic Bank (Guy) Ltd to construct an all-weather concrete practice pitch for its cricketers. The 6 ‘ x 40 ‘ practise facility would be built on the outer part of the Area ‘H’ Ground and would be outfitted with practise nets to allow the Club’s Coaches to conduct one on one coaching with junior players.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster, who is spearheading the project, hailed the contribution of Republic Bank who is contributing $150,000 to the project. He expressed gratitude to the bank for its continued cooperation to Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation. The cricket membership of the RHTYSC at the Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 and female levels continues to expand on a daily basis as parents seeks to join their children into Guyana’s most successful youth and sports organisation.
Foster explained that afternoon practice sessions are a nightmare as only a fifth of the members are able to practice properly in the three hours sessions which normally starts at 3PM and concludes by 6PM. The concrete pitch would be used by the Under 13 to Under 17 age group and female cricketers mainly, while the Under 19 to seniors would utilise the pitch. With the rainy season also approaching, members would be able to practice, unlike in the past.
With the numerous promising junior cricketers in the RHTYSC, Foster stated that it was important for them to practice all year to enable them to develop their skills. These include national and Berbice junior cricketers Kevlon Anderson, Keith Simpson, Kevin Sinclair, Brandon Prashad, Junior Sinclair, Brandon Corlette, Surendra Budhoo, Plaffina Millington, Sheeneta Grimmond, Slyus Tyndall, Chanderpaul Govindan, Shabika Gajnabi and Joshua Gobin. The concrete pitch would be constructed by members of the Rose Hall Town Farfan and RHT Pepsi under 19 cricket teams along with the Management and staff of the Republic Bank Rose Hall Town Branch.
