The Research Unit of the Parliament Office will be further upgraded through a $2.5M donation made by the Canadian High Commission.
The money will be used to purchase one flatbed scanner which the Parliament Office says will be of immense benefit to the Research unit. That piece of equipment will be used to help the Office in the realization of its digitisation goal.
The Research Unit will also receive five Microsoft Surface Pro Tablets which will provide access for the efficient retrieval, analyzing and storing of data.
Additionally, two new headsets will be purchased for the Hansard Department. These will be used for the transcription of verbatim speeches of Sittings of the National Assembly, Meetings of Parliamentary Committees and Sub-Committees.
The Parliament office has, over the years, received much needed assistance from the Canadian High Commission. Last year, the High Commission funded a project to have all Sittings of the National Assembly streamed live on the internet.
