Some of the newly elected board members of the Guyana Sport Shooting
Federation paid a courtesy call on the Minister Nicolette Henry, Minister within the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sport last Thursday 10th March, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Main Street.
During the visit the President of the G.S.S.F., Ms. Vidushi Persaud, Secretary Mr. Steve Ninvalle, Steel Challenge Chairman Dr. Pravesh Harry, Archery Chairman Mr. Nicholas Hing and Internal Auditor Mr. Jagmohan Bassoo discussed with the Honourable Minister Henry their plans for the future and gave an update as to the various shooting disciplines thus far. They reported on affiliations, stating that the G.S.S.F. is affiliated to international bodies such as the Steel Challenge Shooting Association, the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the World Archery Federation.
The Minister expressed her commitment to continue working with the Federation and posited that she also looks forward to GSSF’s continued involvement in the NSC 50 Shades of Games. The GSSF recently hosted a Practical Pistol Match showcasing Practical Shooting and this weekend, will be adding another discipline to NSC’s 50 Shades of Games when the Federation in collaboration with the National Sports Commission will be hosting an Indoor Target Archery Competition. Minister Henry further indicated she is excited to work with the G.S.S.F. in promoting and developing the various Sport Shooting disciplines especially the potential with Archery going into the hinterland areas of Guyana.
The Ministry and the GSSF look forward to working together to build a stronger working relationship to the benefit of all Guyanese as the Federation continues to uphold its recognition as a Sporting body promoting sport, specifically in the field of sport shooting locally, regionally and internationally.
