Despite the efforts of firefighters using three fire tenders, fire, the bad servant, destroyed a bond belonging to the popular Avinash haberdashery chain.
The blaze, which began late Saturday night, completely flattened the bond located at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, leaving millions of dollars in losses.
While investigators are still to definitively determine the cause of the blaze, there are reports that it was deliberately set.
At the time of the blaze, there was no one at the property.
A man who lives a few lots away recalled hearing a small explosion shortly before he saw the building engulfed in flames.
Kaieteur News understands that apart from some sporadic visits, the owners of the property are hardly seen by nearby residents.
This is the third time within a month that a mystery fire has destroyed an unattended building on the East Coast of Demarara.
Three weeks ago, some overseas based Guyanese businessmen suffered millions of dollars in losses when fire demolished a bond at Mon Repos.
Last Thursday, fire of unknown origin gutted the Good Hope house of another businessman Ramzan Gafoor who was overseas at the time with his entire family.
He has since offered a one million dollar reward for information on how the fire was started.
