Dillon Mahadeo and Candace Lynch emerged male and female winners when Guyana Fitness Games hosted the E Networks fitness challenge yesterday at the National Park.
In an event where athletes fitness, physical and mental strength are being severely tested, Mahadeo overpowered his rivals with 395 points to finish ahead of Carlos Mendonca on 332 and Monano Jeffery with 328. Osmond Mack ended in fourth position on 326 followed by Yogeshwar Nirmal 311, Anis Ade-Thomas 309 and Timothy Mc Andrew 295.
The female segment was fiercely contested with Lynch and Semonica Duke battling up front. Both athletes, like the male counterparts thrilled the fans with their resilience throughout the day, but Lynch scored 390 points to edge her closest rival Duke who finished on 385. Neesa Bhagwandin also provided some entertainment, showing grit and determination to take third place with 355 points.
Life Gym took the team title with 975 points, while Elite Systems finished second on 969 and Cross Fit Bel Air third on 866. Fitness Paradise placed fourth on 773 followed by Fanatics 763, Fitness 53 on 704, Fitness Revolution 675 and Muscle Pro Fitness on 628.
During the games Athletes participated in the Randy commonly called snatches (75 lbs male and 45 lbs female), 400m run, 15 deadlift, 15 toaster bar, 50 box jumps, 40 kettle belle swings, 20 cleans, 10 front squats and five push-ups in the team segment. The top seven male and three female athletes were then selected for the individual category in which they participated in Burpee Wall Jump and sleigh 25m thrice.
Other entities on board were St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Banks DIH, DeSinco Trading, Courts, Baganara Island Resort, 704 Sports Bar, Sterling Products, Windjammer, Arrow point Nature Resort, Axe Apparel, Wings Investments, Star Party Rentals, Grand Coastal, Silhouette and Xie Xie Restaurant.
