Outstanding performances by Stephen Harris and Mark Ramsammy guided Eccles to a comfortable 90-run victory over Uprising when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association 50-over tournament continued yesterday.
Harris and Ramsammy resurrected their team innings with a fifth wicket stand of 105 after they lost some early wickets, batting first at Farm. Harris timed the ball well, hitting eight fours and seven sixes before he was dismissed for 80, while Ramsammy stroked six fours and three sixes in scoring 48. Daniel Barker got 26 and Lennie Pancham 13 as Eccles posted 227-9 off their reduced 30 overs. Mohamed Baksh grabbed 3-31 and Harrinauth Pooran 3-24.
Irfan Ally and Kishan Persaud added 45 for the opening stand to give Uprising a fair start but after Persaud went for 13 and Ally for 35 (3×4, 1×6), the rest of the batting failed to give support with the exception of Baksh who made 39 (3×9) and Teekaram George 14. Kevin Plantz claimed 2-0, Kevlin Singh 2-8, Mark Roopchand 2-12, Harris 2-20 and Barker 2-21.
At Laluni, rain stopped play after Herstelling A were 114-8, batting first against Sandpipers. The competition continues today with Laluni hosting Herstelling B.
