Malvern, Zeeburg and Cultural recorded victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association President’s Cup T20 tournament continued on Sunday.
Malvern defeated host Canal Number Two by two wickets. Batting first, the host scored 164-4 with Derwin Christian scoring 67 off 39 balls aided with five fours and three sixes, while Chien Gittens made a 17-ball 28 (3×4,1×6). Victor Dass and Mark Dellon took one wicket each.
Canal Number Two responded with 166-8 in 18.4 overs. Abdool Razack cracked three fours and two sixes off 14 balls, while Victor Dass got 28 and G. Hardyal 18. Ramkumar Latchman claimed 4-28 and Seenarine Matura 2-20.
At Zeeburg, the host beat Windsor Forest by 137 runs. Zeeburg took first strike and posted 242-7. Amrit Rai struck 69 (4×4,3×6), Balbindar Shivpersaud made 49 (5×4,1×6), Malcolm Hubbard 37 and Yetesh Dhanpaul 28; Mohan Chatram had 3-20.
Windsor Forest were sent packing for 105 in 15.5 overs in reply. Muneshwar Balgobin scored 40 (2×4,2×6); Kelvin Shewpersaud and Dhanpaul snared two wickets apiece.
At Wales, Cultural overcame Viv-La-Force by 34 runs. Cultural made 106 all out in 17.2 overs, batting first. Tejpaul Persaud got 18 and Ramesh Thakur 17; Ryan Seeram picked up 3-22 and Joel Persaud 2-26.
Viv-La Force were bowled out for 72 in 17.3 overs in response. Ricardo Bowling scored 22 and Allan Charles 21; Anthony Ifill claimed 3-11 and Khesram Seyhodan 2-10.
The competition continues on Sunday.
