The Guyanese duo of Sunburst Champion Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra has
advanced to the semifinals and Medal Round of the Junior Under-19 International Badminton Championships being contested in Peru by defeating the host nation’s Renzo Camogliano Telge and Matias Zamorano Ramos: 21-8, 21-17 in the quarter finals of the Boys Doubles.
In the Singles quarter finals, Narayan Ramdhani lost to Nicolas Macias: 21-18, 21-18. Ramdhani was pressured mostly in the backhand side of the court as it was there that his weak point was as he is still recovering from a knee ligament injury which affected his training schedule for two months.
In a release from Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) President and Coach, Gokarn Ramdhani said that the association is happy to learn that Narayan is still able to play well and know that his injury is not affecting him much and he will be able to get back into his usual vigorous training schedule when he returns home.
The II Peru Under-19 Junior International World Ranking Tournament is being held in Lima Peru at the Regatas Club Badminton Courts. The Guyanese duo was expected to be in semi final action last night.
The association has expressed pleasure that the local players are in the Medal Round which would take their World ranking points higher.
