Tragedy struck yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when an employee, Percy Harris,
fell from a breadfruit tree and landed on a concrete wall before falling into a concrete drain below. It was shortly before noon.
Harris became employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in January. He was said to be going after the solitary breadfruit in the tree. An employee on the plot of land next door said that he warned Harris about climbing the tree which is known for its brittle branches. He stepped on one such branch which snapped.
Harris’ entire body struck the concrete fence and then landed in the compound. Kaieteur News understands that the man sustained severe head injuries. The man was bleeding from his ears and mouth.
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were reluctant to speak about the matter and advised that the information be obtained from the investigating officer.
Harris lived at Lot 95 Section ‘E’, South Sophia.
