A spirited Regal Softball team have their eyes set on the 13th Annual Florida Masters Cup 2016. The squad has been undergoing preparation at Carifesta Sports Complex for the competition which will commence on
March 11 and conclude on March 13 in Fort Lauderdale Florida.
Having accepted the invitation from the Guyana Consulate (Florida) in collaboration with the South Florida Softball Cricket League (SFCCL) the Regal outfit is ready to go.
Regal Softball Cricket teams have been performing creditably of recent having being crowned the double champions of the Guyana Softball Cup, winning the Masters and open categories last November at the Demerara Cricket Club Ground in Queenstown. Last July the Masters team finished as runners up in the Independence Cup which was played in July 2015 in New York.
However, in their debut season in the Florida Cup 2015 the Masters failed to make it to the play-offs but team Manager Mahendra Arjune said the players are training very hard and are confident of doing much better in 2016.
Preliminary matches will be played on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th March at the Brian Piccolo
Sports Park and Velodrome, while the finals will be held at the historic Central

Regal received admirable support to make the trip possible and are aiming to keep the Golden Arrowhead aloft while being good ambassadors of Guyana. All-rounder Mahendra Hardyal said the side is a balanced one adding that the players in a fine form and raring to go.
The 13th annual Florida Cup is being played in celebration of Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary and will be contested in two categories; Masters and open. The other teams from Guyana are Floodlights and Floodlights Legends and Wolf Warriors.

The team’s journey to South Florida is made possible through the support from the Director of Sports Mr. Christopher Jones and the National Sports Commission, Mr. Kawal Narine of Jemtex International in New York, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Regal Sports, Top Brandz Distributors, Crown Mining Supplies, Lennox Cush of Stars Party Rentals, Danny Persaud of Ink Plus and Joseph Ramkumar of Payless Variety Store.
