YONKERS, New York (Westchester) – One of the four suspects arrested in connection with the shooting death
of Yonkers baseball prospect Michael Nolan was the only one to request a bail hearing Monday.
Tejmitra Singh, a Guyana native, was charged last week with felony assault and weapons possession. He and three others were allegedly in the car when a gunman fired at Nolan and struck him in the head at a Yonkers McDonald’s last year.
Prosecutors were successful in their bid to have Singh’s passport confiscated because of his international ties.
Courtroom sources say 19 of Singh’s relatives attended the hearing in a show of support. His parents own a business in Westchester.
A judge set cash bail at $350,000, but set bond at just $35,000. If his family comes up with the money, Singh can go free until trial.
Singh has a prior conviction of reckless driving from 2013, according to court records.
