Almost two weeks after the Guyana Police Force (GPF)’s Second in Command, Assistant Commissioner
Balram Persaud, succumbed following a vehicular accident, another member of the force has been involved in yet another accident. This time it is Traffic Chief, Superintendent Dion Moore.
Moore, according to reports, was a passenger in a motorcar heading north along the East Bank Demerara (EBD) Public Road in the vicinity of Guyoil Service Station at Providence when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.
While the driver of the vehicle escaped without injuries, Moore sustained a fractured leg and rib. He is said to be in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Kaieteur News understands that the senior police officer was picked up from the scene of the accident in a semi-unconscious state and rushed to the hospital where he remains a patient.
The driver of the vehicle is in police custody.
On February 5, Balram Persaud was driving along the Schoonord Public Road, West Bank Demerara, when he lost control of his car, which toppled several times before slamming into a utility pole.
He was hospitalized for almost two weeks before he died from injuries he sustained in the accident.
