Opener Deonarine Seegobin struck a fine 73, while left arm spinner Trevor Hossein bagged 5-20 off
10 overs as Ruimveldt romped to a comprehensive 105-run victory over Combined United when the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association 50-over tournament continued yesterday.
Seegobin was the main stay of Ruimveldt innings as he led them to a challenging 199 all out in 32 overs after they decided to bat at Farm.
Seegobin and Almando Doman added 55 for the opening stand before Doman was caught off medium pacer Joseph Manohorlall for 16. Manohorlall, who maintained a steady line gained lateral movement, picked up two more quick wickets before Seegobin and Danny Narayan steadied the innings with a fourth wicket stand of 63. Narayan hit four fours and one six in a quick fire 26 while Seegobin departed after hitting nine fours and one maximum. Ershad Alli propped up the total with a robust 43 which contained two fours and three sixes as Manohorlall finished with 5-44 off 10 overs and Asif Eshak 2-22.
Hossein then bamboozled Combined United batsmen as they were sent packing for 93 in 24.1 overs in reply. Shawn Pooran struck three fours and one six at the top of the order but got little support with Siddiq Mohamed 18 and Yuvindra Ramnanan 11 being the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Erick Sukrah claimed 3-5 and Narayan 2-29 for the winners.
At Laluni, Farm overcame Providence by 65 runs. Batting first after the game was reduced to 37 overs, Farm posted 264-9. Mahendra Dhanpaul cracked 45 (4×4,1×6), Abdul Khan 40, John Paton 39 and V. Manichand 35. Brentol Ross snared 3-13 and Timothy Andrews 3-20. Providence were bowled out for 199 in 31.5 overs in response. Gordon Ross scored 48, Lennox Andrews 42, Gobinda Muniram 36 and Safraz Ali 23. A. Bacchus captured 3-32, U. Manichand 3-48 and Paton 2-22.
The competition continues today with North Soesdyke playing Nandy Park at Farm and Uprising facing Sandpipers at Laluni.
