Colts thrashed Linden’s Block 22 Flames 80-45 to advance to the Super Eight round with guard, Stanton Rose scoring 19 points and seven rebounds and centre, Shane Webster adding 13 points and Kurt English 12 points.
After a 19-17 first quarter for Colts, the Burnham Court-based team kept Flames to three points in the second quarter, while pouring in 22 points to more or less cement the huge victory. Selwyn Noble scored 10 points while Aubrey Johnson added nine points for Flames.
In the feature game of the night, an all-Linden clash, Bulls grounded Jets 81-66 to also advance with guard, Terron Welch piling up 39 points and forward, Michael Turner adding 11 points and eight rebounds.
For Jets, Javon Nelson top scored with 19 points. Joel Webster supported with 15 points and the veteran forward, Alister Webster 12 points and nine rebounds. Jets were competitive up to late in the penultimate period when Welch caught fire.
Forward, Travin Dryden dished a no-look pass to Welch that he finished to give Bulls a 15-14 lead to close the first quarter. The two teams exchanged points until Welch and Turner nailed back-to-back three point jumpers to go up 32-25 with a minute left before halftime.

Calvin Burnett, leading 35-29; Jets’ lone consolation came early in the third period when Joel Webster finished a put back to haul them within three (42-45) points.
Welch nailed consecutive three-point jumpers to blow the game wide open; Welch went on an offensive rampage late in the third quarter and Jets never threatened. The win kept the order with the top seeds moving forward in the tournament.
Defending champions, Pacesetters will begin their title defence against Eagles tonight from 7pm, but before that game Linden’s Victory Valley Royals take on Berbice’s Rockers at 5pm. Winners of the first edition in 2014, Ravens, will play Falcons in the final game of the day’s triple-header at 9pm.
The quarter-finals or Super Eight round of the National Basketball Championships will be played on Friday and Saturday with Final Four set for Sunday; the Final will be held on Saturday March 19 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
All the games will feature halftime entertainment from models, cheerleaders and artistes, which also includes giveaways for patrons. Kirk ‘Chow Pow’ Jardine is the host. The winning team will pocket $500,000 while second place will go home with $250 000, third $150,000 and fourth $100 000 respectively.
