Deonarine (124 n.o.) Seitaram (96, 4 – 29) see Tucber Park to Semi-finals
Guyana Under-17 batsman Steve Deonarine slammed 124 n.o. and Berbice Under-19 allrounder
Joel Seitaram took 4 for 29 and hit 96 to put Tucber Park on the road to defeat Port Mourant outright thus earning the right to advance to the semi-finals of the Memorex Under-19 Two-innings Cricket Competition in Berbice.
In their quarter-final played at the Port Mourant Ground, Tucber Park defeated Port Mourant by an innings and 151 runs.
Port Mourant, sent in on a pitch with some moisture from early morning rain, did well to have their openers Brandon Mangal (25) and Sarwan Chaitnarine (15) put on 44 for the 1st wicket. But after that, left arm spinner Seitaram picked up three consecutive wickets and Berbice Under-17 leg-spinner Brandon Stewart two to leave them 77 for 5.
Berbice Under-17 batsman Daniel Samaroo was batting solidly but he got no support as yet another Berbice Under-17 leg-spinner Dion Sinclair picked up the next few wickets and this together with Seitaram snatching the last one, Port Mourant were bowled out for 115 in their first innings with Samaroo still there at the end with 42 n.o. Sinclair took 4 for 18, Seitaram 4 for 29 and Stewart 2 for 30.
When Tucber Park replied, they were soon 32 for 2, but then Deonarine and Seitaram joined forces and proceeded to put on 122 for the 3rd wicket after which Seitaram fell for 96 (10 fours). After he left, Deonarine took charge and held the innings together steering Tucber Park to 314 all out. He was there at the end with 124 n.o., Dion Sinclair made 22. Bowling for Port Mourant, Vivekanand Jaggit took 5 for 72
and Berbice Under-15 pacer Cheddi Boodoo 3 for 74.
When Port Mourant batted again, facing a 199 run first innings deficit, they were confronted by a pace attack that dismantled their 2nd innings for just 49 with only Jaggit showing any resistance with 26. Bowling for Tucber Park, John Cameron took 4 for 10, Joel Davis 2 for 5, Lookpaul Sahadeo 2 for 13 and Dominique Durant 2 for 13.
