Topp XX can achieve victory of the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Division One League title tonight with a win over Blueberry Hill in their penultimate match of the 2015/16 competition tonight at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground. Eagles United will face Amelia’s Ward Panthers in the other match of the double header.
In results from Wednesday night, Net Rockers handed Silver Shattas a crushing 2-1 defeat while Botafago and Hi Stars battled to a 0-0 draw. It means that Shattas hopes for a victory push were dashed with the loss as they remain on 12 points, three adrift of Topp XX which can move to 19 points with a win tonight over bottom of the table Blueberry Hill to seal the championship with one game in hand.
However, Federal Winners Connection (13 points) with two losses, still have a realistic chance of capturing the title, but that hinges on them winning last two matches and Topp XX losing at least of their two remaining matches.
In other results recently, Eagles United edged Blueberry Hill 2-1; Allen Halley scored in the 21st and Jesse Marshall the 86th minute for the victors. For Blueberry Hill Elmore George netted in the 41st minute.
Marmalaque Davidson’s hat-trick led Federal Winners Connection to a 3-1 come from behind triumph over Milerock. He rocked the nets in the 37th, 64th and 70th minute while Randy Jerome had given Milerock the lead in the 30th minute.
Tonight Topp XX face Blueberry Hill and Eagles United come up against Amelia’s Ward Panthers.
