Stage Elite League Genesis winner Bakewell Slingerz will be going after their third win in as many matches this evening when the Stag Elite League FINALE continues at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
The West Demerara based Slingerz will contest the feature game against the young and energetic Georgetown Football Club which has a loss and a draw in the two matches they have contested to date.
Slingerz with a goal difference of +7 to GFC’s -2 will be fancying their chances of full points as they serge towards another win that will strengthen their bid to win the FINALE as well. Opening play at 18:00hrs will see the 5th placed Guyana Defense Force coming up against the 3rd placed Fruta Conquerors with both sides going for a win, just a single point separate the two teams, Conquerors on 4.
Slingerz has been the most efficient team in terms of goal scoring to date with eight and their Captain, Tishard Joseph who has two will be aiming to lead his charges to another good performance as they have shown that they have goal hungry players in every corner of the field, seven players (Vurlon Mills, Clive Nobrega, Trayon Bobb, Julian Wade, Domini Garnett, Devon Millington) have all scored in the FINALE to date.
GFC has just scored single goal in two matches so far and will have to really lift their game in order to keep the rampaging Bakewell boys from baking their dough. GFC has shown that their young brigade is not afraid to take the attack to any opponent but they lack consistency which comes with experience.
The young and exciting Romario Welcome will hope for an inspiring display today for the home team. Jahaul Greaves, Tervon Lythcott, Shaquille Agard and company will be at the helm of Conquerors’ challenge for a win over the Army whose challenge will centre around Olvis Mitchell who has scored both their goals so far.
