2nd Guyana Fitness Games/E-Networks Cross-Fitness Challenge unveiled …
Nine teams comprising of three males and one female will on Sunday March 13th be locked in intense battle for the title as the fittest in Guyana when the second edition of the Guyana Fitness Games / E-Networks
Cross-Fitness Challenge is held at the National Park.
The official launch was held on Wednesday night last at the 704 Sports Bar where the sponsors gave brief remarks on their partnership with the organisers as they pledged to combine efforts to make the activity second to none.
Present were E-Networks Business Manager Ms. Nadia Bulkhan, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Administrator Ms. Deborah Ramasy, Banks DIH Public Relations Officer Troy Peters, Marketing Manager of Courts Pernell Cummings, Mrs. Candace Ali of Wings Investment, Mrs. Kathy Schuffler of Axe Apparel, Fitness Express Manager Jamie Mc Donald who is also one of the organisers along with Mrs. Nashavyah King and Mrs. Jordana Ramsay-Gonsalves.
Deborah Ramsay said Mercy Hospital was pleased to be associated with the event and they will be having a tent on site at the event manned by professionals to ensure that the athletes are properly cared for after competing.
Peters expressed pleasure on behalf of Banks DIH being associated with the event fro another year and noted that they have associated three of their products with the event, Aqua Mist Water, Vitamalt and Powerade.
He commended the hard work that the athletes have been putting in over the past weeks in order to be in tip top shape for the big event whilst encouraging the spectators to turn out in their numbers to support.
The nine competing teams are Elite Systems (Berbice), Fitness Revolution (East Coast), Team Enmore, Crossfit Bel Air, Fitness Paradise, Fitness 53, Life Gym along with two Wild Card teams that will be made up of individuals from across Guyana who really wanted to compete but did not have a team.
The organisers noted that all 36 athletes will be competing simultaneously for the Individual top spots.
The competition will be made up of four events that will combine 11 different exercises to test the athletes’ fitness level and endurance. Each workout will test a different part of the athletes’ functional strength or conditioning. Competitors will be judged based on execution and speed.
Participatory medals will be awarded to all athletes for competing whilst the top three individuals (male and female) and teams will be further rewarded with prizes ranging from cash to trophies and trips among others. Fans will not be left out as there will be strength and endurance challenges for spectators to showcase their abilities as well for prizes. Admission to the event on Sunday March 13th is $1000, children will be free. Competition time is 10:00hrs.
