– Ward Panthers edge Hi Stars 3-2
Leaders Topp XX extended their advantage to four points as they scored a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Silver Shattas when the Upper Demerara Football Association’s (UDFA) First division championship continued Friday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
The leaders are on 16 points from that win which came with a single strike from Tyric McAllister in the 35th minute of the game and the Shattas now remain on 12 points to be in second position.
In the other game, Amelia’s Ward Panthers were able to rebound from an early goal which came from Hi Stars’ Jermain McBean in the 4th minute. They were able to level the scores when Ray Bobbsemple netted in the 42nd minute and then took the lead in the first minute after play resumed (46th minute) for the final session.
But the Hi Stars hit back when Marley Major found the back of the net in the 57th minute and knotted the scores 2-2 but Andel Norville was able to give his side the crucial winning goal when he netted in the 87th minute .
The championship was due to continue last night.
