Dr. Johan DaSilva and Vyvian Crandon are top shots
The Smallbore section of the Guyana National Rifle Association opened their 2016 season with a bang when they hosted a .22 Precision Pistol Match on Saturday last at the Tactical Services Unit Indoor Range, Eve Leary.
It’s the first club match of many promised by Smallbore Captain Dale Hing who said he was encouraged by the turn out. He said that the match consisted of three stages of precision shooting using the both weak and strong hands supported, then strong hand unsupported.
The senior shooters shot at the 10 meter distance while the juniors shot at the 5 meter distance.
Emerging as the top shot among the seniors was Dr. Johan DaSilva who amassed a total of 288 points and 11 bulls. He was followed by Roberto Tiwari (249/9bulls), Randy Sarjoo (249/6 bulls), Sean Smith (246) with Stanton Seepersaud occupying the fifth position.
Topping the field in the Junior category was Vyvian Crandon who tallied 284 points and 9bulls. Second was Raval Seojattan (281/9 bulls), Annabelle Sharma (277/14 bulls), Eon Pearson (275/7 bulls) and Nafasie Edghill (231/3 bulls).
The next match on the agenda will be the Everall Franklin Memorial Cup set for March 20th at the Timehri Rifle Range. This will be a team event and will consist of both precision and action pistol shooting with 9mm caliber pistols.
