The Guyana Judo Association (GJA) hosted a Mashramani competition at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground last Sunday. Five clubs participated in the event which saw about 40 competitors in action in six divisions of juniors and four divisions of seniors.
Competing in front of a vocal and appreciative crowd Kilbert Archer, who was eventually named Best overall fighter, was promoted on the sport for his impressive showing in the Senior 60kg department, advancing to Brown belt. Keron Bourne was promoted to Orange belt in the 55kg Junior segment and one of the youngest competitors Usayd Barlow (24kg Junior) was also upgraded to Yellow belt.
GJA President Raoul Archer expressed delight at the performances exhibited on the day. He also expressed thanks to Charles Ambrose, William Arthur, the executives of the association, sponsors and Maximum Sport for their support and assistance in making the event a success.
