Many speakers thanked the NYBG for their financial support and also for promoting the young talents in the area since there is no current U19 cricket competition. Among them was Mr Shiv Persaud Manager of the Albion/Port Mourant Sugar Factory, Regional Chairman Region number 6, Mr. David Armogan, Guyana Cricket Board Secretary Mr. Anand Sanasie, Berbice Cricket Board Chairman Mr. Anil Beharry, Mr Imtiaz Baccus President of the Albion Sports Complex and the Committee members of the NYBG.

Some twenty eight teams have signaled their interest and the BCB has assigned Mr Carl Moore to head the committee for the cricket operation. The competition will commence in March and conclude in September. The primary aim is to prepare the players for the longer version of the game.
Speaking on behalf of the New York Business Group, Mr Ralph Tamesh, who is also President of the Indo-Caribbean Federation a New York based Cultural and Humanitarian organization said, “We are here to promote the young players but not as T20 players, we want to see the true talent of these players, we want to prepare them for the four day and five day game where they could apply themselves and become mentally tough cricketers.” The NYBG was very receptive to the idea of making the tournament a national tournament in the future.
