Two critical after speeding car cuts down lamp post
Two persons remain in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following a horrendous accident around 13:30 hrs on Sunday on the Profit Public Road, West Coast Berbice.

Injured and in an unconscious condition at the main medical institution are the driver Rafiel Laurie, 27, of Supply, Mahaica; and Reana Khan, 29, of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
According to information, the silver grey Toyota 212 Motorcar, PKK 7466 was reportedly heading west towards Georgetown on the southern side of the Profit Public Road when the driver lost control, sending the vehicle off the road. The vehicle broadsided a Guyana Power and Light Inc. pole on the Southern side breaking it in half. The car was badly damaged.
The two victims had to be assisted out of the vehicle by public spirited citizens. They were first rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital in an unconscious condition before being transferred to the Georgetown Hospital for emergency treatment.
Laurie remains in a critical condition while Khan it is reported to be responding to treatment.
Two other accidents reportedly occurred in Berbice yesterday. Another one took place the West Coast Berbice involving a Rav 4 vehicle and a motorcycle. The driver of the Rav 4 reportedly fled the scene. However his vehicle was later found, locked and abandoned.
The other accident reportedly occurred in East Canje involving a car and a bicycle. The cyclist reportedly was riding without light and brakes. He is hospitalized.
