A Jury has been empanelled to hear the murder trial of a man who is accused of strangling his wife.
On Friday last, a 12-member mixed jury which will sit before Justice Franklyn Holder was empanelled to begin hearing the trial of Prabhudyal Tarachand, called “Ramesh”36, of High Reef, Albion, Corentyne.
The man is accused of strangling his wife, Geeta Devi Bhishundial, called ‘Dian’ 28.
The incident was alleged to have occurred on Sunday June 2, 2013 at their home at High Reef, Albion, Corentyne, Berbice.
The indictment was read by State Prosecutor, Attorney-at-Law Natasha Backer. A Preliminary Inquiry was held before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Albion Magistrate’s Court.
The accused is being represented by Attorneys-at-Law Murseline Bacchus and Perry Gossai.
The case will commence on Thursday.
