Sebring International Raceway, Florida, USA – Caribbean racer, Calvin Ming
won the final pre-season F1600 race at Sebring International Raceway this past weekend. Calvin Ming recorded back-to-back wins in F1600 pre-season action by driving his # 4 K-Hill Motorsports F1600 Mygale/Honda to a victory at West Palm Beach earlier this month. Ming followed up that victory with a closely contested race on February 21 at SIR in the 2nd and final pre-season race with a victory followed closely by teammate # 3, Neil Verhagen, Thus, making the K-Hill Motorsports Mygale/Honda team sweep the top 2 podium spots.
If this is any indication of what to expect in F1600 action then, the season is guaranteed to be full of excitement. There were countless lead changes and position changes from the drop of the green flag all the way to the checkered flag. The battle for supremacy was ultimately decided at the checkered flag with a late pass by # 4, Calvin Ming who snatched victory.
F1600 racing has a rich and diverse history dating back to the sixties with racing legends such as Michael Andretti and the late Ayrton Senna having raced in this series. These are ultra-light, purpose built single seaters without a rear wing, with either a Ford Kent or Honda Fit engine. The season will officially kick off at Road Atlanta on April 7 – 10.
