Taking advantage of the motorcade put together by the Young Warriors Cricket
Club and the business sector, The Berbice Cricket Board honoured young Berbician Shimron Hetmyer for leading the West Indies under-19 team to their first ever victory in the ICC 2016 Youth World Cup in Bangladesh. Below is the press release from cricket board:
“The BCB is proud of you Shimron Hetmyer for your achievement of leading the West Indies under-19 team to their first ever youth World Cup which concluded recently in Bangladesh. As a board, we try our best despite the challenges faced to fulfill our mandate and we continue to produce outstanding players for Guyana and West Indies teams. Your former under-19 teammate Gudakesh Motie is excelling at regional senior cricket already. The board is confident that soon both of you will be wearing the maroon colors. We wish to encourage you to continue to be humble, work hard and stay focused.”
The board also took the opportunity to congratulate the other two Guyanese Tevin Imlach and Kemo Paul. They will soon be presented with plaques by the BCB. The entire team was also praised.
