Dear Editor,
On February 12 2016 I bought a Unecto cell phone from the GTT mobile outlet at Vreed- en Hoop for 15000. The CSR told me that the internal memory of the said phone is 8 GB. When I returned to my office, I asked my technician to download an app so that I can access live feed from the security camera installed at the business. My technician then informed me that the said phone does not possess enough memory to download the app. When we checked the phone, the internal memory is less that 2 GB. I called the GTT office and told them my concerns and was advised to visit the commercial office on Brickdam.
When I arrived at the Blackberry office, I saw the said phone displayed there. But it said 4GB. The CSR there told me the phone is 4GB. I asked her to show me where in the phone it says that. She kept referring to the display writings on the counter. I told her that GTT can write any thing but show me where in the phone it says 4GB. After a lengthy search she could not find any evidence to support the display. She then apologised to me and said that she is just doing what she was told. I asked her why she could not remove the incorrect display and replace it with the correct info. She said that is management’s decision. Sir I am appalled at this grave misrepresentation by such service oriented company. How can we allow this to go unnoticed? GTT should not continue to mislead the public just to make money. The consumers need to know that they are getting what they pay for. In my case I feel a sense of disgust and mistrust.
