All attention is expected to be focused on tomorrow’s Mashramani horserace meet organised by the Rising Sun Turf club in collaboration with the Inshan Bacchus Trucking Service at the club’s racetrack at Rising Sun,
Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
The event which is being held in memory of the late Zaleena Habibulla Lawrie a former Vice President of the Club and dubbed “Hellie’s Day of racing” is turning out to be a mega affair.
The feature event is now for animals classified “A” and lower and the arena is expected to be packed to capacity since it will see the return to the track of Guyana’s only “A” class animal Score’s Even.
With Score’s Even, set to make a grand return to the track after a lengthy lay off due to injury and lack of form the event has taken on mega proportions.
Eight top notch races are carded for the day with prize monies totaling over $4.5M in cash and trophies up for the taking in what is expect to be a scorching day of racing.
The feature event for ‘A’ and lower animals, dubbed the “Hellie Mile” with a total prize money of over $ 1.6M and a winning purse of $ 800,000 and the Banks DIH trophy over 1600M on offer.
Score’s Even of the Dennis DeRoop Simple Royal stable is not expected to get an easy time on its return as it will have to contend with a top class field that has been assembled for the race. The speedy Princess She’s Not, with a win in its last meet and also a win over Score’s Even will be looking to continue the good run of form of the Shariff stable.
Jus Cal Me Boss of the Jagdeo stable is also in good form and the Boss has never lost a race at that track with three wins from three starts and will have an opportune time to prove its worth. According to trainer “Jinjo” Jagdeo the animal seems to love the left-hand track.
Lady Budapest from the Bactowar Stables is improving with every race and will be looking for its first win. Keep On Swinging from Jumbo Jet Racing Stables is also fast and taking the light weight will definitely be in with a chance.
The other races listed for the day are the event for animals classified E and lower for a winner’s prize of $500,000 and trophy over 1400M. The G3 and lower showdown will see the animals running for the $320,000 first prize in a 1000M contest.
There is a race for H class horses with the pole position takings set at $300,000 and trophy over 1100M. The I class event is usually very competitive and as such the organizers have put up a winning purse of $260,000 and trophy over 1100M top the top animal in that class.
The event for horses classified J and lower will see the winner receiving $200,000 and trophy over 1100M.
A first prize of $160,000 and trophy is available for the winner of the race for K and lower animals also over 1100M. The animals classified L and lower will race over 1100M for a winner’s pocket of $100,000 and trophy.
The nation’s largest horseracing sponsors Beverage Giants Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot West Coast Berbice, Hablaw Meat Centre are among the sponsors on board.
Businessman Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market as usual is on board with sponsorship for the individual prizes which includes the champion jockey, champion trainer and champion stable among others.
The Race will be held under the rules of the Rising Sun Turf Club.
