Remembering a fallen Coach, the Georgetown All-Stars defeated GFC Masters 2-1 to win the Peter Lashley
Memorial football match on Saturday last the eve for his death Anniversary, Valentine’s Day.
The All-Stars goals came from former National player Chris Barnwell and Gerald Washington, while GFC’s lone goal came from Gordon Henry. Just before the highly contested game the two teams observed a minute’s of silence for the former national footballer and coach who died two years ago tragically in an accident.
Peter Lashley was a long serving coach of the GFC club for over eight years, coaching at the Nursery and senior levels, while playing Masters football for the club. He also coached the Western Tigers football club.
Peter Lashley died the morning of Valentine’s Day in 2014, when he was crushed to death by a truck on Mandela Avenue on his way to work. His sudden death sent shock waves throughout the football community. A moment of silence was also held on Sunday in the GFF elite stag league just before the GFC vs Monedderlust game. The game was organized by the GFC Masters Club in honour of the past Coach.
