Police have detained a 14-year-old Eighth of May, Dartmouth student who stabbed a 13-year- old Charity Secondary School student in the region of his neck, Thursday afternoon, at Dartmouth Village. The stabbing followed an argument.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from a heated argument between the two teenagers resulting in the 13-year-old being stabbed in his neck. Residents have said that after the misunderstanding, the 13-year-old was at his great uncle’s residence, in Dartmouth while the 14-year-old who inflicted the stab went to his Dartmouth home to apparently collect a pair of scissors and a knife.
As the 13-year-old was leaving his great uncle’s residence, the 14-year-old waited at a corner then launched an attack on the boy. A vein in the 13-year-old’s neck was severed and he was admitted to the Suddie Public Hospital where doctors performed an emergency operation on him.
Police are monitoring the injured child’s condition while soliciting information from the suspect who was arrested for questioning. (Yannason Duncan)
