In the midst of glitz, glamour and the translucent aura of a VIP sports experience at the Savannah Suite of the Pegasus Hotel on Tuesday, Heineken officially launched its 2016 Union of European Football Associations
(UEFA) Champions League (UCL) Promotion.
Heineken is a long-standing sponsor of the Champions League, and as such, the brand has kicked off its annual local promotion with the corporate community, patrons, enthusiasts, and media in a transformed Savannah Suite, which featured a mega screen that broadcasted the Paris St. German game against Chelsea at the Parc des Princes in the first leg.
Heineken Brand Manager at Ansa McAl Limited, which is the sole distributor for Heineken Beer in Guyana, Robert Hiscock told Kaieteur Sport that the company strives to be different with their UCL promotion every year. He confessed that this year’s launch at Pegasus was the biggest since they started the promotion some years ago.
“We made contact with some of the big corporations in Guyana, invited their staff, unknowing to the staff, down to a seminar about corporate wellness, meditation, financial wellness and all sorts of random stuff, except telling them about football” Hiscock informed.
He said that the participants sat in the facade for about an hour and half getting bored before they were suddenly led out of the room only to return to the transformed Savannah Suite that featured a Heineken party with confetti, club lights and other impressive props.
“I hope this is going to help us achieve our goals. This year we will have so much happening for Champions League; we have a massive Champions League party on May 28, in the midst of the 50th Anniversary celebrations,” Hiscock highlighted.
The final of the tournament will be broadcasted live at a venue to be named. Last year the home of the final in Guyana was Gravity Lounge. Hiscock is to reveal what will be the 2016 Promotion and venue for the final viewing party. (Edison Jefford)
