Third accused charged with brutal murder of Bush Lot couple

Two of the accused were previously charged with the capital offence and headed to court. They were to head back after the third suspect was arrested a few days later.
The third suspect is Rooplall Abrahim, called ‘Vijai’, 24, of Murphy Dam, Rosignol, West Bank Berbice. He now joins Gocoul Madanpaul,  called ‘Clown’, 18, of 175 Block B Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice and Nazamadeen Raffick, 19, called ‘Shazam’ of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
They were charged with the grisly murders of Doodnauth Rajkumar, 81, a businessman, and his reputed wife, Dianne Chammanlall, both of lot 93A Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice.
The three youths who are known to the authorities once again stood expressionless when the charge was read to them.
They are accused of between Friday January 8, and Saturday January 9, last, murdering the couple, Rajkumar and Chammanlall, at their home in furtherance of a burglary.
They were remanded by Magistrate Weever until March 9 when they will appear in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s court.
