SUSPECTS IN CHATEAU MARGOT FIRE BEING SOUGHT
Two persons are believed to be suspects in the burning of their own dwelling located at Lot 4 Chateau Margot, Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara on Monday morning.

A fire official told Kaieteur News that around 10 hours the Guyana Fire Service responded to the fire call. When the unit turned up no occupant of the house was present.
Basmattie Vivekanand, 54, lived at the premises and her paramour would visit. Her son, Jerrol Cummings, who is said to be a recent involuntary remigrant, was also staying at the home.
From a reliable source, it is believed that Cummings and his mother’s boyfriend got into an argument on Sunday. This continued into early yesterday morning.
Unconfirmed reports also suggest that Basmattie and her son are somewhat linked to setting the fire.
Supporting the theory of arson, was one eyewitness who chose to remain anonymous and relayed to this newspaper that she was sitting in her veranda when she saw the occupants quietly and calmly leaving the scene, not even raising an alarm. Smoke was seen emanating from the one flat wooden structure.
“I saw some smoke I saw three people leaving the premises, two had suitcases and they were leaving. They just went, then the fire just took hold. Basically that’s what I saw”.
An investigation is in progress.
